Youth Programs
RYLA
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. RYLA participants can be ages 14-30, but most clubs and districts choose to focus on a narrower age range, such as 14-18 or 19-30.
RYLA emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to
- Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
- Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
- Encourage leadership of youth by youth
- Recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities
The Rotary Club of Mesquite will be sending two youths from Beaver Dam Arizona to RYLA this year. Watch the Club news for more information.
Sports Camps
Basketball Camp
Taught by former Denver Broncos STAR: RICK UPCHURCH
"I love working with kids. I had success in what I did, playing professional sports. Why hold on to a treasure? You might as well share that treasure, whether it’s helping a family or helping a community. If you help a young man, you help that young man go out and help another young man. Now the community becomes stronger. If the community becomes stronger, your state becomes stronger. If the state becomes stronger, now the United States of America becomes stronger. Right now, we’re fighting to keep ourselves together….our families, our community, the very fiber of the United States of America."Participants will acquire a knowledge of the basic rules of the game along with developing:
- shooting
- dribbling
- passing
- Re-bounding
- game situations
Basketball Camp 2009 will be held on April 20-22 from 5-8 p.m. Orientation will be held on Saturday April 18 at 3:00 pm. Orientation and Camp will be held at the Mesquite Recreation Center in the West Gym.
Total cost for the 3 day camp is $ 45.00 at the orientation.
Pre-registration price will be discounted to $30.00.
Prices include t-shirts & refreshments.

Total cost for the 3 day camp is $ 55.00 at the orientation.
Pre-registration price will be discounted to $40.00.
